WOMEN, INFANTS & CHILDREN NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children (WIC) is a nutrition and breastfeeding program that helps eligible pregnant women, new mothers, babies and young children. WIC provides nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and referrals to health and other social services.

Healthy Quin Counties operates WIC for the counties of Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, Red Lake, and Roseau. Local WIC Clinics are available and require an appointment. To make an appointment, please call 218-653-1210

The app is currently available for iPhone version 8.0 and higher, Android version 6.0 and higher, and can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

  • SHOPPING GUIDES – foods that may be provided by the WIC Program
  • WIC Foods – Questions – why are certain foods provided by WIC, nutrients, serving sizes, how to eat more of these foods, etc.
  • Food Tips – help with choosing and cooking WIC foods.
  • Kids in the Kitchen – how to have kids safely help in the kitchen.

WIC food benefits support the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, align with the American Academy of Pediatrics infant feeding guidelines, and support breastfeeding. Key nutrients include protein, iron, zinc, calcium, folate, magnesium, potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, and fiber.
